Endodoncija je grana stomatologije koja se bavi liječenjem korijenskog kanala zuba. Infekcija kanala je najčešće uzrokovana dubokim karijesom i dovodi do upale zubnog živca odnosno pulpe. Pored karijesa još jedan od uzročnika može biti trauma zuba koja dovodi do pulpitisa. Pulpa sadrži nerve i krvne sudove, i kada dođe do njene infekcije ili oštećenja uslijed karijesa, traume ili drugih faktora, može doći do pojave bola, oticanja te širenja infekcije u okolne strukture.
Glavni cilj terapije
Glavni cilj terapije je uklanjanje infekcije iz kanala, dezinfekcija i opturacija istog. U našoj ordinaciji postoji dodatna mogućnost dezinfekcije korijenskog kanala laserom, što dodatno pospješuje uspješnost terapije. Na kraju liječenja radi se nadogradnja zuba koja odgovara trenutnom kliničkom stanju, što podrazumijeva plombiranje zuba, a kod velikih oštećenja kočić nadogradnju i navlaku.
Posljedice neliječenja
Ukoliko se zub ne liječi, infekcija može dovesti do ozbiljnijih problema, poput pojave apscesa (pojave gnojne kolekcije), gubitka zuba te narušavanja opšteg zdravstvenog stanja pacijenta.
